1. Educational experiences about using
different computer programs in calculus courses
Anna
Takács Klingné, Kaposvár University, Kaposvár (Hungary)
Abstract:
Traditionally the
mathematical Calculus course starts
from the first semester at the University of Kaposvár. On the basis of our experiences it is too
difficult or abstract for our students to pick up the elements of this subject.
Among others this motivated us to use computerized methods for demonstrations,
visualization and better understanding of the concepts (monotonity, extreme
values, etc.) of the curriculum. We decided for programs Excel, Geogebra and
Euler3D as these are available and easy to use. Students draw graphs of
functions and sequences with Excel or/and Geogebra and recognize their
properties, and also use Excel Solver and Euler3d programs to solve and
demonstrate linear programming problems. Either the graphic representing of functions
or the visualization of linear programming exercises can be solved easily with
the help of computer programs unlike the paper pencil method. During the
resolving of analytical exercises the emphasis goes from the symbolic level
that was defined by Bruner to the representational level of the demonstration
or graphs. In this paper we give examples from students’ tasks and opinions.

Abstract. A deductive thinking can be
considered as the concatenation of ideas, each one determined by the previous
one. In mathematics, deduction is the way in which we validate a conjecture,
using general facts to justify less general or particular facts. All
individuals possess this way of constructing thoughts and jumping into
conclusions, but we need to practice it in order to develop it deeper and make
more educated decisions.
In construction tasks with The Geometer’s Sketchpad (GSP) it is
possible to explore the construction itself, make conjectures and try to
validate them, putting ourselves in a theoretical context and making use of
deduction as the means of getting the right answers.
Learning
Mathematics, Doing Mathematics, is a teaching model in which I propose, among
other things, the fostering of a deductive thinking mainly through construction
tasks in Euclidian Geometry. In this paper I present the main features of the
model and some GSP activities that are helpful in the fostering of a deductive
thinking.

Abstract. Math software users must
know the features of different math software like Maple, GeoGebra, Matlab.
Comparing Maple and GeoGebra software (also considering other math software)
one can see the differences regarding the commands, tools, the help files, the
syntax used and the possibilities of
caring out a task. Also, we see that there are tasks that can be carried
out using Maple but not with GeoGebra and Matlab, and they must be easily
adopted to each one of them. We try to
make use of some commands and techniques of Maple for GeoGebra in completing the already existing summary help
files in order to have a set of instructions for the teachers and the students
who use GeoGebra, meeting this way some of the most necessary needs of them in
using GeoGebra tools and commands for doing work.

autoreglare a învăţării.
Globalizare, metacogniţie, autoreglare a învăţării,
manual electronic.

Abstract. Computers are a real support for laborious
statistical analysis. Clinical research methodology course enables
communication through application of universal agreement, for those who intend
to devote a part of their medical activity to cutting edge
research. Clinical research involves scientists both producer and consumer
of science. Its purpose is to seek detailed knowledge of analysis and
interpretation of results from research and presentation of proper
dissemination of research results in scientific circles. Acetic course
requirements are beyond memorization, reproduction and recognition of the
material, they go into logical learning. Research Methodology guides
students in preparation and understanding of medical studies. Statistics
plays a very important role in this process, both the correct application of
statistical tests and the interpretation of results. For students to learn and
understand the contents of this course, there are many ways to combine teaching
styles, such as: systematic exposure, questioning, the conversation method,
modeling, illustration, computer-assisted learning and not least exercise
method. The above methods must be combined with a good motivation in order for
the learning to be efficient and to achieve the course’s goals.

Developing
Pupils’ Creative Potential during “Practical Skills” Classes
Maria Eliza Dulamă, Babeş-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca (Romania)
Cuvinte cheie: creativitate; originalitate; restructurare;
elaborare; rezolvare; unicat.
Abstract. The aim of our research was to test
the following hypothesis: if pupils realised products implying varied
necessities and required diverse modalities for realising then the pupils’
creative potential increased. We realised our research in “Mihai Eminescu” Secondary School in Zalău, in
2009, during the “Art and Skills” Summer School. Our sample was 12 pupils in
the second grade, being 9 years old. For the initial and final tests we asked
pupils to decorate greetings cards using certain decorative elements. We tested
their originality, the complexity of their work, as well as fluency, new
elements, synthesis, restructuring, and solutions. In order to develop their
creative potential we asked pupils to decorate objects not only with an
aesthetic role, but also useful ones (paintings, frames for paintings, supports
for glasses, for pencils, flowers for vases, gift bags, etc.). We
reached the following conclusions: all pupils had the capacities to create new
and original products, so they had developed their creativity to a certain level;
many pupils had succeeded in solving at their best one or more tasks so there
were no pupils with maximum creative potential; each pupil had good or not so
good products so we were able to notice certain individual progress for each
pupil; some pupils were more rigid when designing their products than others
(on all faces of the box some realised the same design), while others were more
flexible, trying to create new models. Therefore, we concluded that pupils
underwent positive changes in developing their creativity during the
experimental learning situations that we proposed and that confirmed the
hypothesis of our research.

Abstract: The effect that a visit to a modern university
chemistry department has on even the youngest of school pupils cannot be
underestimated. This case study looks at one element of a project developed
with five schools near Bristol, UK to enthuse and raise aspirations of a group
of ten year old girls who have been identified as being disillusioned with
science and mathematics at school. This outreach event involved the pupils
visiting a university chemistry department and getting an insight into tertiary
education whilst learning about perfume chemistry from both a theoretical and a
hands-on level.

3. Dezvoltarea
naturii. Deoarece acţiunea copilului are la bază imitaţia, comportamentul

Abstract. Man must respect and preserve the living environment
because it gives all the conditions s/he needs to live. Environmental concerns:
preventing environmental damage, pollution control and ecological restoration
activities, keeping de-polluted areas. Children should be educated from
kindergarten to be environmentally responsible by participating in various
practical activities, depending on age specific and should be aware that any
child can become a friend of nature. Since the child 's action is based on
imitation, adult behavior is very important to him. Children should know that
flowers in the wild live longer than the vase, and some insects (ladybugs,
bees) are very useful to plants. During the trips in nature, children must
learn and follow a few rules of civilized behavior. Means of achieving behavior
can be informative (stories, reading after pictures, poems, TV) or training
(practical activities in which children are placed in a position to act). Extracurricular activities (walks, visits, trips) contribute to
the knowledge of children about the environment, helps them to spend time in a
relaxed manner, but have a positive effect on the work group, creating a sense
of security and trust . To test children's
behavior towards the environment, a project was conducted thematically named
„Friends of Nature”. During the project the children have made walks, nature
observation, games, learned about how to protect nature , have conducted
various activities with ecological character, learning thus how important it is
for the human being ,the living environment. Children should
understand that man and nature are inseparable concepts, it must be respected
and not dominated and that changes occurring in nature do not appear randomly, but are subject to objective laws.
